Ready for the Google Movie?

Google Movie DetailsAfter the hype surrounding the Facebook movie, The Social Network, and the spoof trailer for the YouTube movie, Google may be having a movie of their own.

Groundswell Pictures and John Morris have already acquired the movie rights to a book on Google, Googled: The End of the World as We Know It.

Details on the movie have not emerged as no writers, directors, or actors have been assigned to the project.

The founder of Groundswell Pictures, who backed the movie Milk, had the following to say about the movie:

New Technologies Coming Soon: Hulu Plus, Cisco Tablet, Verizon iPhone, Windows 8, Android 3

Cisco TabletThere are so many awesome technologies that will be coming out that were recently announced.

It started off with Hulu’s announcement that in addition to their free service, they’ll be providing Hulu Plus, where you can stream the archives of all your favorite TV shows to your TV, iPad, iPhone, PS3, or X-Box 360. Hulu Plus will be launching in July. For a mere $10.00 a month, you may want to consider ditching cable and go with Hulu and Netflix to deliver your television and movies to you through the web. Add Google TV to the mix, which should be making it debut this fall, and the future of television through the web looks promising.

Facebook’s Homepage Traffic Tops Google

Facebook LogoFor the first time ever, Facebook.com’s homepage has received more hits than Google’s homepage.  Between the two websites, they received 14 percent of all internet visits in the United States this past week.  Facebook beat out Google though, 7.07 percent to 7.03 percent.  These statistics only account for homepage visits.

When accounting for all traffic to the website pages, Google still remains in the lead with 11.03 percent of all website traffic followed by Yahoo with 10.98 percent, and 7.07 percent for Facebook.

FCC Upgrading U.S.’s Broadband

FCC's Broadband GoalsThe FCC announced their plan to upgrade broadband for Americans.  The FCC released a 360-page blueprint on how to achieve faster internet speeds.

Only 2/3rds of Americans have fast internet access and the FCC wants to bring faster internet speeds to more users.

Currently, the average household internet speed is 4 megabits per second (Mbps).  Even homes with cable internet are achieving speeds of only 5-6 Mbps.  The FCC plans to increase those speeds to 50-100 Mbps over the next decade.  Below are some of the FCC’s goals.

FCC’s Broadband Internet Goals:

  • 25x faster internet speeds than current speeds.
  • Expanded coverage for mobile services.
  • Give 100 million Americans access to internet speeds at 50 megabits per second (50 Mbps) by 2015.
