I recently called a business contact and needed to leave them an extremely urgent message. The call went to their voice mail and I received the following message, “We’re sorry, but the recipient’s voice mail box is full. Please try again later.”

A full voice mail box? Really? Isn’t it 2010, where storage is no longer an issue? I just wanted to let everyone know that this silly problem can be averted thanks to Google Voice.

With Google Voice, you get unlimited voice message space. Not only that, but your messages will never expire. With the standard voice mail on your phone, you have limited voice message space and the messages that you do have stored in your voice mail are automatically deleted after …

Google released Google Voice to the U.S. public without requiring an invite. You are able to sign up here. Google previously required an invite in order to use the service while it was being tested.

I was able to sign up last month using an old .edu account, which Google gave priority to.  After using it for about a month now, I can tell you that it’s an excellent service. I used to get angry when people would call me and leave a message simply stating, “Hi, it’s (Name), call me back when you get this.” I see that you called in my call log, why are you leaving me a voice mail with absolutely no substance? It’s overwhelming to keep track of everything Google does.  One day they’re improving Google Docs, another day they’re changing Google Search, and then they release Google TV.  There has been so much going on lately with Google.  Google is improving everything they do all of the time — that is what they do.  Here are three additions to some Google services that have gotten overshadowed by the major announcements coming from the Google I/O.

1.) New Themes in Google Forms

24 new themes have been added to Google Forms.  Thanks to their partnership with iStockPhoto, they were able to include lots of new imagery into their forms.

Google will soon be releasing Google Voice, the competitor to Skype — and more! The desktop application is currently being tested internally among Google employees before a beta version is released to the public for testing prior to a final version release. However, the mobile application is available if Google accepts your invite request.

Google Voice promises to be revolutionary.  Last November, Google acquired start-up Gizmo5 to help get the project going. Google Voice has now been a project that has been worked on by Google for about a year now, turning 1 on March 11.
