More on the Mobile Internet Tsunami

Mobile Internet UseStill not convinced in the trend towards mobile internet or what has been dubbed by Jim Cramer as the “mobile internet Tsunami”? According to the Google Mobile blog, 100 million users per month are using Google Maps for Mobile.

I frequently use the Google Mobile app for Blackberry. It’s great for getting info on restaurants when you’re on the go. You can get directions, the telephone number, restaurant reviews, and more.

As I’ve stated in the past, if you’re a website owner, you better make sure your website is optimized for mobile.

I’m just waiting for the day when mobile speeds are equivalent to modern-day cable mobile speeds. Can we please get there soon?…

The Verizon 4G network is coming to 25 to 30 cities by the end of next year.  After the Android’s hit with Motorola and HTC, Google will maintain competition with Apple by releasing their own tablet device. With Google Editions for their eBooks, who Google has a deal with “almost all” U.S. publishers with, along with a 4G device, which can download at speeds of 100 Megabits/seconds (10x faster than 3G), the Google Tablet will be a big hit. Don’t forget about Google Voice either.

Google Search Tricks Now On Mobile

Google Search MobileGoogle recently added their neat search tricks to Google Mobile. Some of the ways you can use Google search is to quickly define words, translate phrases, convert units, check weather, look up stock quotes, check times in other areas, and check flight statuses.

If you’re using an iPhone, Android, or Palm device, some of these tricks will appear automatically below your search query while you’re typing before you have to even click search just like the standard Google search page.  Click refresh if you’re not seeing the automatic results on your mobile device.

I also found that these features also work with the Blackberry if you downloaded the Google Blackberry Mobile App. They will not work on the standard page in your Blackberry’s …

Google Releases Google Maps 4.0 For Blackberry

Google Maps Blackberry Voice SearchWe all know that the Blackberry is a business device and the iPhone is a toy, but if you’re a Blackberry user that harbors a little iPhone jealousy, your iPhone envy has waned a little bit thanks to Google Maps 4.0 for the Blackberry.

Google officially rolled out version 4.0 for the Blackberry today and it is a big upgrade. The best feature included in the upgrade is its voice search feature.

Google will discover your location once you log into the program.  To search by voice, simply hold down the green call icon and say what you’re searching for.
